I have to admit...I started feeling a little nauseous as I drove up to Lake Hefner for my first Boot Camp day. I didn't really know what to expect, so that made me feel uneasy. There was a group of about 12-15 campers with 5 instructors. The campers ranged from young and fit to older and overweight, so I felt like I was right in the middle. Myself and one other girl were the only 2 new people. Everyone else had already completed at least one month. That made me a little more nervous as well...
Standing in a group waiting for everyone to show up, I was already starting to feel hot...106 degrees is no joke. My car temp was 108 when I arrive and 114 earlier in the day. We jogged to our first destination with a little shade (luckily). This is where we stretched and did some calisthenics. Today was our "PT Test" day. This includes a one-mile run and one minute each of sit ups, push ups and dips. First off was the one mile run. I was feeling a little apprehensive knowing that all of these people except one had been working on this and had probably improved their times. However, I felt strong and finished either 3rd or 4th! I ran a 9:00 mile in 106 degree heat! I think the best time of the group was around 6:40...wow!
These were my numbers for the other PT test items:
Sit ups (real ones, not crunches) - 30
Push ups - 15 "real" and 23 "facilitated" (aka "girl" push ups)
Dips - 65
I think those are pretty strong numbers, but I know I can improve on those over the next 28 days. We were given a logbook in which we record our meals, water intake, protein and carb intake and veggie intake. I'm sure they will be really impress that I ate Sonic for lunch today :) I feel surprising strong considering the weather and know that I will rest well tonight!
My goals for this program (as written in my logbook):
1. Perfect attendance
2. Lose at least one pant size
3. Improve in all categories in my PT test
